About Stephen

Stephen has more than 25 years experience in the digital printing industry. He began his career as a graphic reproducer in the pre-press industry and learnt the old art of darkroom photography and hand film combining. As he was completing his apprenticeship, he realised technology was overtaking the skills he had just mastered. Motivated to learn and advance with technology, Stephen embraced the new era of wide format inkjet printing that had just entered the Adelaide market.

He continually progressed with the industry and in 2001 he founded Ochre Digital with Rodney Brereton. They became the first Adelaide business to run solvent ink in wide format digital print. This opened a large client base of sign companies who needed photo printing on outdoor suitable materials. The following year they invited Andrew Baohm to join the partnership and take their skills and abilities to a new client base in museums and ad agency work. Stephen and Andrew continue to be directors of Ochre Digital. In 2010 they joined with Ryan Westley to form Ochre Digital’s sister company – Trio sign solutions.

Stephen has a passion for surfing and travelling. Combining these interests has led to Stephen surfing some of the world’s greatest surfing locations. His talents also extend to manufacturing surfboards under the branding of Habitual Surfboards. Stephen also enjoys fishing and looking after his chickens.
